Men’sfolio feature Drifters designer in his designs. Do note there are some errors to the heading: It should read CO-Owner as White Room has 2 other partners, Melvin Chee who heads the graphics and promotions area, and Urica Sin who is our store manager and overall solid gem who keeps the store together : ) Secondly, Arthur Chua is the only designer, not Chief designer, as there are no one else in the design department. Thirdly the label is DrifterS with a plural S : )
Thanks for the support!

New Drifters shirts- pre Spring 2011 Collection in store now!
Our new batch of pre Spring 2011 drifters shirts has finally arrived! The shirts in oxford and poplin cottons with lots of details in terms of panelling, pleating and colour blocking are loosely named after some of our favourite French actors, new and current as well crooners who has at some point acted in obscure French films or are inspired by French romanticism in their work. There are two main signature to this range of shirts- the diamond shaped hem gusset as well as the split back vent with diamond shaped insets.
Do drop by to try some in your size!
Here are some photos for your viewing scrutiny:
Clementi , named after actor Pierre Clementi who stole the show from Catherine Deneuve in Belle De Jour, and not our Singapore’s West coast town, this shirt with contrast colour collar and front panel is a mixture of oxfords and chambray fabrics.
Besides the 2 colour combo featured below, it also comes in plain white poplin.
Belmondo, named after actor Jean- Paul Belmondo, who took our breadth away as a romantic tough thug with a stylish swagger in Goddard’s A bout de Souffle, this monochromatic shirt is extra cool with a double open panel bib.
In homage to the black and white movies of the French new wave era, we made it in black, white and a very deep French blue for all pun intended.
Cassel, named after actor Vincent Cassel, much envied husband of Monica Belluci, this shirt has open folded shoulder seams as well as a tuxedo style fold running through the front placket. The back features our new double fold box pleats.
This shirt comes in 3 versions- micro tattersall check, micro gingham as well as plain white.
Delon, is a homage to the greatest and coolest French actor of all time, Monsieur Alain Delon, who thrilled us with movies like Le Samourai and Plein Soleil. This shirt is simply elegant with contrast front bodice and cuffs with our signature slit back vent. It looks great on its own as well as under a dark jacket.
We have 3 combos – medium blue with dark grey, moss green with dark green, lilac with deep purple.

Bowie, named after David Bowie, who isn’t French at all but we liked him as the modern day vampire in The Hunger with French actress Catherine Deneuve, and his Parisien live album, French Affair, and thought it would be a great tribute too to name a shirt after him. This shirt with its asymmetrical bib pleating detail is designed with Bowie’s angular facial structure in mind, as well as the French version of his movie, The Man who fell to Earth, which featured a upside down triangle with his face in it.
We have 3 versions of this shirt in black, white as well as a contrast combo of light and medium grey blue.
Weller, named after singer Paul Weller of The Style Council fame, is a trubute to his Parisien fascination days in the 80s, from the Cafe Bleu album when he went under the moniker of the cafe rat and writer “The Cappucino kid”. This shirt has a definitive 80s vibe with a small button down collar and a front panel that covers half the front double patch pockets.
It comes in 3 combos- a classic oxford blue with grey panel, a pale blue with light grey as well as plain white. Wear this one with high waisted pleated pants or your darkest denim and “shout to the top” as Weller’s lyrics goes !
This shirt also comes in a short sleeve version called Paul, and comes in black, blue contrast gingham checks, and a red- blue plaid.
Gallo, is named after actor, director, producer, screenwriter, singer-songwriter, and painter, Vincent Gallo, who is not French but we feel that he has a French Renaissance sensibility and only select to work on very obscure art house type movies. Besides, the French were the only critics who praised his self indulgent movie Brown Bunny.
Gallo is often seen clad in vintage wear and we designed this short sleeve shirt with our signature diamond patch in suede for that vintage 70s feel in mind.
It comes in 2 shades of checks as well as a plain white.
